Religious Tolerance As mentioned in Al-Quran بِسۡمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِيۡم AlBaqarah-02:256. No Compulsion in the Religion There shall be no compulsion in the religion. The right path has indeed become distinct from the wrong. So whoever disbelieves in false deities, and believes in Allah, then certainly he has grasped the most trustworthy handhold with no break in it. And Allah is All Hearer, All Knower. لَاۤ اِكۡرَاهَ فِى الدِّيۡنِ ‌ۙ قَد تَّبَيَّنَ الرُّشۡدُ مِنَ الۡغَىِّ ‌ۚ فَمَنۡ يَّكۡفُرۡ بِالطَّاغُوۡتِ وَ يُؤۡمِنۡۢ بِاللّٰهِ فَقَدِ اسۡتَمۡسَكَ بِالۡعُرۡوَةِ الۡوُثۡقٰى لَا انْفِصَامَ لَهَا ‌‌ ؕ وَاللّٰهُ سَمِيۡعٌ عَلِيۡمٌ‏ AlAnaam Chapter-06:108 Do not Insult False Deities And do not insult those whom they (disbelievers) call upon besides Allah, lest they insult Allah in enmity without knowledge. Thus We have made fair seeming to each people their deed. Then to their Lord is their return, then He will inform them of what they used to do. وَ لَا تَسُبُّوا الَّذِيۡنَ يَدۡعُوۡنَ مِنۡ دُوۡنِ اللّٰهِ فَيَسُبُّوا اللّٰهَ عَدۡوًۢا بِغَيۡرِ عِلۡمٍ ‌ؕ كَذٰلِكَ زَيَّنَّا لِكُلِّ اُمَّةٍ عَمَلَهُمۡ ثُمَّ اِلٰى رَبِّهِمۡ مَّرۡجِعُهُمۡ فَيُنَبِّئُهُمۡ بِمَا كَانُوۡا يَعۡمَلُوۡنَ‏ AlHujrat Chapter-49:13 The Divine Gift of Diversity O mankind, indeed, We created you from male and female, and We made you into nations and tribes so that you may come to know one another. Indeed, the most noble among you with God is the most spiritually conscious of you. Indeed, God is All knowing, All Aware. يٰۤاَيُّهَا النَّاسُ اِنَّا خَلَقۡنٰكُمۡ مِّنۡ ذَكَرٍ وَّاُنۡثٰى وَجَعَلۡنٰكُمۡ شُعُوۡبًا وَّ قَبَآٮِٕلَ لِتَعَارَفُوۡا ‌ؕ اِنَّ اَكۡرَمَكُمۡ عِنۡدَ اللّٰهِ اَتۡقٰٮكُمۡ ‌ؕ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ عَلِيۡمٌ خَبِيۡرٌ‏ AlMaidah Chapter-5:48 Many Lanes on the Divine Pathway For each among you, We appointed a divine law and a clear way. And if God had willed, He would have made you one nation. But that He may try you in that which He has given you. So race one with another in good deeds. To God you will return all together, He will then inform you of that in which you used to differ. لِكُلٍّ جَعَلۡنَا مِنۡكُمۡ شِرۡعَةً وَّ مِنۡهَاجًا ‌ؕ وَ لَوۡ شَآءَ اللّٰهُ لَجَـعَلَكُمۡ اُمَّةً وَّاحِدَةً وَّلٰـكِنۡ لِّيَبۡلُوَكُمۡ فِىۡ مَاۤ اٰتٰٮكُمۡ فَاسۡتَبِقُواالۡخَـيۡرٰتِ ‌ؕ اِلَى اللّٰهِ مَرۡجِعُكُمۡ جَمِيۡعًا فَيُنَبِّئُكُمۡ بِمَا كُنۡتُمۡ فِيۡهِ تَخۡتَلِفُوۡنَۙ‏ AalImran Chapter-3:64 There is but One Creator of all Mankind Say: “O People of the Scripture, come to a word equitable between us and you that we shall not worship except God, nor shall we associate with Him anything, nor shall one of us take others for deities other than God.” So if they turn away, then say: “Bear witness that we are those who have submitted.” قُلۡ يٰۤاَهۡلَ الۡكِتٰبِ تَعَالَوۡا اِلٰى كَلِمَةٍ سَوَآءٍۢ بَيۡنَنَا وَ بَيۡنَكُمۡ اَلَّا نَـعۡبُدَ اِلَّا اللّٰهَ وَلَا نُشۡرِكَ بِهٖ شَيۡـًٔـا وَّلَا يَتَّخِذَ بَعۡضُنَا بَعۡضًا اَرۡبَابًا مِّنۡ دُوۡنِ اللّٰهِ ‌ؕ فَاِنۡ تَوَلَّوۡا فَقُوۡلُوا اشۡهَدُوۡا بِاَنَّا مُسۡلِمُوۡنَ‏ AnNisa Chapter-4:136 Believing in All Divine Books and All Messengers O those who believe, believe in God, and His messenger and the Scripture which He has sent down upon His messenger, and the Scripture which He sent down before. And whoever disbelieves in God, and His Angels, and His Scriptures, and His Messengers, and the Day of Judgment, then indeed he has gone far strayed. Response to the Message of Hate/Enmity And not equal are the good deed and neither the evil deed. Repel (the evil deed) by that which is better, then he between you and him there was enmity (will become) as though he was a devoted friend.
