How Jinns were created
وَخَلَقَ الۡجَآنَّ مِنۡ مَّارِجٍ مِّنۡ نَّارٍۚ
And He created Jinns from a smokeless flame of fire.
Jinns were created before Mankind
وَلَـقَدۡ خَلَقۡنَا الۡاِنۡسَانَ مِنۡ صَلۡصَالٍ مِّنۡ حَمَاٍ مَّسۡنُوۡنٍۚ
And indeed, We created man from sounding clay, from mud molded into shape.
وَ الۡجَـآنَّ خَلَقۡنٰهُ مِنۡ قَبۡلُ مِنۡ نَّارِ السَّمُوۡمِ
And the Jinns, We had created before, from the fire of a scorching wind.
Purpose of Jinns’ creation
وَ مَا خَلَقۡتُ الۡجِنَّ وَ الۡاِنۡسَ اِلَّا لِيَعۡبُدُوۡنِ
And I have not created the Jinns and the mankind except that they should worship Me.
Shaitan is Jinn
وَ اِذۡ قُلۡنَا لِلۡمَلٰۤٮِٕكَةِ اسۡجُدُوۡا لِاَدَمَ فَسَجَدُوۡۤا اِلَّاۤ اِبۡلِيۡسَؕ كَانَ مِنَ الۡجِنِّ فَفَسَقَ عَنۡ اَمۡرِ رَبِّهٖؕ اَفَتَـتَّخِذُوۡنَهٗ وَ ذُرِّيَّتَهٗۤ اَوۡلِيَآءَ مِنۡ دُوۡنِىۡ وَ هُمۡ لَـكُمۡ عَدُوٌّ ؕ بِئۡسَ لِلظّٰلِمِيۡنَ بَدَلاً
And when We said to the angels: “Prostrate before Adam,” so they fell prostrate, except Iblis. He was of the Jinns, so he departed from the command of his Lord. Will you then take him and his offspring as your protecting friends other than Me, and they are an enemy to you. Evil would be the exchange for the wrongdoers.
Allah’s challenge to Jinns to produce anything like Quran
قُل لَّٮِٕنِ اجۡتَمَعَتِ الۡاِنۡسُ وَ الۡجِنُّ عَلٰٓى اَنۡ يَّاۡتُوۡا بِمِثۡلِ هٰذَا الۡقُرۡاٰنِ لَا يَاۡتُوۡنَ بِمِثۡلِهٖ وَلَوۡ كَانَ بَعۡضُهُمۡ لِبَعۡضٍ ظَهِيۡرًا
Say: “Surely, if men and Jinns were to get together in order to produce the like of this Quran, they will not (be able to) produce the like of it, even if some of them were helpers to others.”
Allah’s challenge to Jinns to go beyond limits
يٰمَعۡشَرَ الۡجِنِّ وَالۡاِنۡسِ اِنِ اسۡتَطَعۡتُمۡ اَنۡ تَنۡفُذُوۡا مِنۡ اَقۡطَارِ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالۡاَرۡضِ فَانفُذُوۡاؕ لَا تَنۡفُذُوۡنَ اِلَّا بِسُلۡطٰنٍۚ
O company of Jinns and men, If you have the power to escape across the bounds of the heavens and the earth, then escape. You shall not escape, except with authority.
Jinns are ungrateful to Allah like Mankind
فَبِاَىِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ
So which of the favors of your Lord would you two (Jinns and men) deny.
People associate Jinns as partners to Allah
وَ جَعَلُوۡا لِلّٰهِ شُرَكَآءَ الۡجِنَّ وَخَلَقَهُمۡ وَخَرَقُوۡا لَهٗ بَنِيۡنَ وَبَنٰتٍۢ بِغَيۡرِ عِلۡمٍؕ سُبۡحٰنَهٗ وَ تَعٰلٰى عَمَّا يَصِفُوۡنَ
And they associate with Allah Jinns as partners, though He has created them, and they impute to Him sons and daughters without knowledge. Glorified be He and High Exalted above what they attribute (to Him).
People assign a relationship between Allah and Jinns
وَ جَعَلُوۡا بَيۡنَهٗ وَ بَيۡنَ الۡجِنَّةِ نَسَبًا ؕ وَلَقَدۡ عَلِمَتِ الۡجِنَّةُ اِنَّهُمۡ لَمُحۡضَرُوۡنَۙ
And they have invented between Him and the Jinns a kinship, and certainly the Jinns know that they will be brought forth (before Him).
Jinns whisper evil in Mankind
الَّذِىۡ يُوَسۡوِسُ فِىۡ صُدُوۡرِ النَّاسِۙ
“Who whispers into the hearts of mankind.”
مِنَ الۡجِنَّةِ وَ النَّاسِ
“From among the Jinns and mankind.”
Some Jinns are enemies to Prophets
وَكَذٰلِكَ جَعَلۡنَا لِكُلِّ نَبِىٍّ عَدُوًّا شَيٰطِيۡنَ الۡاِنۡسِ وَ الۡجِنِّ يُوۡحِىۡ بَعۡضُهُمۡ اِلٰى بَعۡضٍ زُخۡرُفَ الۡقَوۡلِ غُرُوۡرًاؕ وَلَوۡ شَآءَ رَبُّكَ مَا فَعَلُوۡهُ فَذَرۡهُمۡ وَمَا يَفۡتَرُوۡنَ
And thus We have appointed for every prophet an enemy, devils from mankind and Jinns, inspiring some of them to others with adorned speech as a delusion. And if your Lord had so willed, they would not have done it, so leave them alone, and that which they invent.
Allah guides among Jinns whomsoever He wills
وَ لَوۡ شِئۡنَا لَاٰتَيۡنَا كُلَّ نَفۡسٍ هُدٰٮهَا وَلٰـكِنۡ حَقَّ الۡقَوۡلُ مِنِّىۡ لَاَمۡلَئَنَّ جَهَنَّمَ مِنَ الۡجِنَّةِ وَ النَّاسِ اَجۡمَعِيۡنَ
And if We had so willed, We could have given every soul its guidance, but the word from Me (about evil doers) will come true, that I will surely fill Hell with the Jinns and mankind together.
King Solomon had Jinns in his Army
وَ حُشِرَ لِسُلَيۡمٰنَ جُنُوۡدُهٗ مِنَ الۡجِنِّ وَالۡاِنۡسِ وَالطَّيۡرِ فَهُمۡ يُوۡزَعُوۡنَ
And there were gathered before Solomon his armies of the Jinns and men, and the birds, and they were set in battle order.
A Jinn in Solomon’s Court offered to bring Queen of Sheba’s Throne
قَالَ عِفۡرِيۡتٌ مِّنَ الۡجِنِّ اَنَا اٰتِيۡكَ بِهٖ قَبۡلَ اَنۡ تَقُوۡمَ مِنۡ مَّقَامِكَۚ وَاِنِّىۡ عَلَيۡهِ لَـقَوِىٌّ اَمِيۡنٌ
A mighty one from among the Jinns said: “I will bring it to you before that you rise from your place. And indeed, I am for such surely strong, trustworthy.”
Jinns did Construction work for King Solomon
وَ لِسُلَيۡمٰنَ الرِّيۡحَ غُدُوُّهَا شَهۡرٌ وَّرَوَاحُهَا شَهۡرٌۚ وَ اَسَلۡنَا لَهٗ عَيۡنَ الۡقِطۡرِؕ وَمِنَ الۡجِنِّ مَنۡ يَّعۡمَلُ بَيۡنَ يَدَيۡهِ بِاِذۡنِ رَبِّهِؕ وَ مَنۡ يَّزِغۡ مِنۡهُمۡ عَنۡ اَمۡرِنَا نُذِقۡهُ مِنۡ عَذَابِ السَّعِيۡرِ
And for Solomon the wind (was subjected), its morning (journey) a month, and its evening a month, and We caused to gush forth for him the fount of copper. And among the Jinns, those who worked before him by the permission of his Lord. And whoever deviated of them from Our command, We caused him taste of the punishment of the Fire.
يَعۡمَلُوۡنَ لَهٗ مَا يَشَآءُ مِنۡ مَّحَارِيۡبَ وَتَمَاثِيۡلَ وَجِفَانٍ كَالۡجَـوَابِ وَقُدُوۡرٍ رّٰسِيٰتٍؕ اِعۡمَلُوۡۤا اٰلَ دَاوٗدَ شُكۡرًاؕ وَقَلِيۡلٌ مِّنۡ عِبَادِىَ الشَّكُوۡرُ
They worked for him what he desired, of the shrines, and statues, and basins like wells, and immovable heavy cooking-pots. “Work you, O family of David, in gratitude.” And few of My slaves are grateful.
فَلَمَّا قَضَيۡنَا عَلَيۡهِ الۡمَوۡتَ مَا دَلَّهُمۡ عَلٰى مَوۡتِهٖۤ اِلَّا دَآبَّةُ الۡاَرۡضِ تَاۡكُلُ مِنۡسَاَتَهُۚ فَلَمَّا خَرَّ تَبَيَّنَتِ الۡجِنُّ اَنۡ لَّوۡ كَانُوۡا يَعۡلَمُوۡنَ الۡغَيۡبَ مَا لَبِثُوۡا فِى الۡعَذَابِ الۡمُهِيۡنِؕ
Then, when We decreed death for him, nothing informed them (Jinns) of his death except a creeping creature of the earth, which gnawed away his staff. So when he fell down, the Jinns saw clearly that if they had known the unseen, they would not have remained in the humiliating punishment.

Jinns heard Quran in Arabic and believed in it
قُلۡ اُوۡحِىَ اِلَىَّ اَنَّهُ اسۡتَمَعَ نَفَرٌ مِّنَ الۡجِنِّ فَقَالُوۡۤا اِنَّا سَمِعۡنَا قُرۡاٰنًاعَجَبًاۙ
Say: “It has been revealed to me that a group of the Jinns listened.” Then they said: “Indeed we have heard a wonderful Quran.”
يَّهۡدِىۡۤ اِلَى الرُّشۡدِ فَاٰمَنَّا بِهٖؕ وَلَنۡ نُّشۡرِكَ بِرَبِّنَاۤ اَحَدًاۙ
“It guides to the right way, so we have believed in it. And we shall never associate with our Lord anyone.”
وَّاَنَّهٗ تَعٰلٰى جَدُّ رَبِّنَا مَا اتَّخَذَ صَاحِبَةً وَّلَا وَلَدًاۙ
“And that our Lord’s majesty is exalted. He has not taken a wife, nor a son.”
وَّ اَنَّهٗ كَانَ يَقُوۡلُ سَفِيۡهُنَا عَلَى اللّٰهِ شَطَطًاۙ
“And that our foolish one has been saying against Allah an atrocious lie.”
وَّاَنَّا ظَنَنَّاۤ اَنۡ لَّنۡ تَقُوۡلَ الۡاِنۡسُ وَالۡجِنُّ عَلَى اللّٰهِ كَذِبًاۙ
“And that we thought that the mankind and the Jinns would never utter against Allah a lie.”
وَاَنَّهٗ كَانَ رِجَالٌ مِّنَ الۡاِنۡسِ يَعُوۡذُوۡنَ بِرِجَالٍ مِّنَ الۡجِنِّ فَزَادُوۡهُمۡ رَهَقًاۙ
“And that there were people among the mankind who used to seek refuge with people among the Jinns, so they increased them in revolt.”
وَّاَنَّهُمۡ ظَنُّوۡا كَمَا ظَنَنۡتُمۡ اَنۡ لَّنۡ يَّبۡعَثَ اللّٰهُ اَحَدًاۙ
“And that they had thought, same as you thought, that Allah would never send anyone (as a messenger).”
وَّاَنَّا لَمَسۡنَا السَّمَآءَ فَوَجَدۡنٰهَا مُلِئَتۡ حَرَسًا شَدِيۡدًا وَّشُهُبًاۙ
“And that we have sought (to reach) the heaven, but found it filled with stern guards and burning flames.”
وَّاَنَّا كُنَّا نَقۡعُدُ مِنۡهَا مَقَاعِدَ لِلسَّمۡعِؕ فَمَنۡ يَّسۡتَمِعِ الۡاٰنَ يَجِدۡ لَهٗ شِهَابًا رَّصَدًاۙ
“And that we used to sit there in stations for hearing (eavesdropping), but whoever listens now, he finds for him a burning flame lying in ambush.”
وَّاَنَّا لَا نَدۡرِىۡۤ اَشَرٌّ اُرِيۡدَ بِمَنۡ فِى الۡاَرۡضِ اَمۡ اَرَادَ بِهِمۡ رَبُّهُمۡ رَشَدًاۙ
“And that we do not know whether evil is intended for those on earth, or their Lord intends for them the right way.”
وَّاَنَّا مِنَّا الصّٰلِحُوۡنَ وَمِنَّا دُوۡنَ ذٰلِكَؕ كُنَّا طَرَآٮِٕقَ قِدَدًاۙ
“And that among us are righteous, and among us are otherwise. We are sects having divided ways.”
وَّاَنَّا ظَنَنَّاۤ اَنۡ لَّنۡ نُّعۡجِزَ اللّٰهَ فِى الۡاَرۡضِ وَلَنۡ نُّعۡجِزَهٗ هَرَبًاۙ
“And that we think that we can neither escape Allah in the earth, nor can we escape Him by flight.”
وَّاَنَّا لَمَّا سَمِعۡنَا الۡهُدٰٓى اٰمَنَّا بِهٖؕ فَمَنۡ يُّؤۡمِنۡۢ بِرَبِّهٖ فَلَا يَخَافُ بَخۡسًا وَّلَا رَهَقًاۙ
“And that when we heard the guidance (the Quran), we believed in it. So whoever believes in his Lord, will then not fear deprivation, nor injustice.”
وَّاَنَّا مِنَّا الۡمُسۡلِمُوۡنَ وَمِنَّا الۡقٰسِطُوۡنَؕ فَمَنۡ اَسۡلَمَ فَاُولٰٓٮِٕكَ تَحَرَّوۡا رَشَدًا
“And that among us are those who have surrendered (to Allah), and among us are unjust. So whoever has surrendered, then such have sought the right way.”
وَاَمَّا الۡقٰسِطُوۡنَ فَكَانُوۡا لِجَهَنَّمَ حَطَبًاۙ
“And as for the unjust, they will be firewood for Hell.”
Believing Jinns preach among Jinns
اُولٰٓٮِٕكَ الَّذِيۡنَ حَقَّ عَلَيۡهِمُ الۡقَوۡلُ فِىۡۤ اُمَمٍ قَدۡ خَلَتۡ مِنۡ قَبۡلِهِمۡ مِّنَ الۡجِنِّ وَالۡاِنۡسِؕ اِنَّهُمۡ كَانُوۡا خٰسِرِيۡنَ
They are those against whom the word is justified, among the nations that have passed away before them of Jinns and mankind. Indeed, they were the losers.
وَاِذۡ صَرَفۡنَاۤ اِلَيۡكَ نَفَرًا مِّنَ الۡجِنِّ يَسۡتَمِعُوۡنَ الۡقُرۡاٰنَۚ فَلَمَّا حَضَرُوۡهُ قَالُوۡۤا اَنۡصِتُوۡاۚ فَلَمَّا قُضِىَ وَلَّوۡا اِلٰى قَوۡمِهِمۡ مُّنۡذِرِيۡنَ
And when We brought to you a group of Jinns listening to the Quran. Then when they attended it, they said: “Give ear.” Then when it was finished, they turned back to their people as warners.
قَالُوۡا يٰقَوۡمَنَاۤ اِنَّا سَمِعۡنَا كِتٰبًا اُنۡزِلَ مِنۡۢ بَعۡدِ مُوۡسٰى مُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا بَيۡنَ يَدَيۡهِ يَهۡدِىۡۤ اِلَى الۡحَقِّ وَ اِلٰى طَرِيۡقٍ مُّسۡتَقِيۡمٍ
They said: “O our people, We have indeed heard to a Book that has been sent down after Moses. Confirming that which was before it, guiding unto the truth and to a straight way.”
يٰقَوۡمَنَاۤ اَجِيۡبُوۡا دَاعِىَ اللّٰهِ وَ اٰمِنُوۡا بِهٖ يَغۡفِرۡ لَكُمۡ مِّنۡ ذُنُوۡبِكُمۡ وَيُجِرۡكُمۡ مِّنۡ عَذَابٍ اَلِيۡمٍ
“O our people, respond to Allah’s caller and believe in him. He will forgive you of your sins and will protect you from a painful punishment.”
وَمَنۡ لَّا يُجِبۡ دَاعِىَ اللّٰهِ فَلَيۡسَ بِمُعۡجِزٍ فِى الۡاَرۡضِ وَلَيۡسَ لَهٗ مِنۡ دُوۡنِهٖۤ اَوۡلِيَآءُؕ اُولٰٓٮِٕكَ فِىۡ ضَلٰلٍ مُّبِيۡنٍ
And whoever does not respond to Allah’s caller, he cannot escape in the earth, and there will be no protecting friends for him besides Him. Such are in manifest error.
Jinns on the Day of Judgment
وَ يَوۡمَ يَحۡشُرُهُمۡ جَمِيۡعًاۚ يٰمَعۡشَرَ الۡجِنِّ قَدِ اسۡتَكۡثَرۡتُمۡ مِّنَ الۡاِنۡسِۚ وَقَالَ اَوۡلِيٰٓـئُهُمۡ مِّنَ الۡاِنۡسِ رَبَّنَا اسۡتَمۡتَعَ بَعۡضُنَا بِبَعۡضٍ وَّ بَلَغۡنَاۤ اَجَلَـنَا الَّذِىۡۤ اَجَّلۡتَ لَـنَاؕ قَالَ النَّارُ مَثۡوٰٮكُمۡ خٰلِدِيۡنَ فِيۡهَاۤ اِلَّا مَا شَآءَ اللّٰهُؕ اِنَّ رَبَّكَ حَكِيۡمٌ عَلِيۡمٌ
And the day when He will gather them together (He will say): “O company of the Jinns, you have indeed (mislead) many of mankind.” And their friends among mankind will say: “Our Lord, we did benefit, some of us from the others, and we have reached our appointed term which You did appoint for us.” He will say: “The Fire is your residence, you will dwell therein, except for what Allah wills. Indeed, your Lord is All Wise, All Knowing.”
يٰمَعۡشَرَ الۡجِنِّ وَ الۡاِنۡسِ اَلَمۡ يَاۡتِكُمۡ رُسُلٌ مِّنۡكُمۡ يَقُصُّوۡنَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ اٰيٰتِىۡ وَيُنۡذِرُوۡنَكُمۡ لِقَآءَ يَوۡمِكُمۡ هٰذَاؕ قَالُوۡا شَهِدۡنَا عَلٰٓى اَنۡفُسِنَا وَ غَرَّتۡهُمُ الۡحَيٰوةُ الدُّنۡيَا وَشَهِدُوۡا عَلٰٓى اَنۡفُسِهِمۡ اَنَّهُمۡ كَانُوۡا كٰفِرِيۡنَ
“O, you assembly of the Jinns and the mankind, did not there come to you messengers from amongst you, reciting to you My verses, and warning you of the meeting of this Day of yours.” They will say: “We bear witness against ourselves.” And the life of the world deceived them. And they will bear witness against themselves that they were disbelievers.
Angels’ comments about relationship between Mankind and Jinns
وَ يَوۡمَ يَحۡشُرُهُمۡ جَمِيۡعًا ثُمَّ يَقُوۡلُ لِلۡمَلٰٓٮِٕكَةِ اَهٰٓؤُلَآءِ اِيَّاكُمۡ كَانُوۡا يَعۡبُدُوۡنَ
And the Day He will gather them all together, then He will say to the angels: “Are those the people who used to worship you.”
قَالُوۡا سُبۡحٰنَكَ اَنۡتَ وَلِيُّنَامِنۡ دُوۡنِهِمۡۚ بَلۡ كَانُوۡا يَعۡبُدُوۡنَ الۡجِنَّۚ اَكۡثَرُهُمۡ بِهِمۡ مُّؤۡمِنُوۡنَ
They will say: “Glorified be You. You are our benefactor instead of them. But they used to worship the Jinns. Most of them were believers in them.”
People’s anger upon Jinns on the Day of Judgment
وَقَيَّضۡنَا لَهُمۡ قُرَنَآءَ فَزَيَّنُوۡا لَهُمۡ مَّا بَيۡنَ اَيۡدِيۡهِمۡ وَ مَا خَلۡفَهُمۡ وَ حَقَّ عَلَيۡهِمُ الۡقَوۡلُ فِىۡۤ اُمَمٍ قَدۡ خَلَتۡ مِنۡ قَبۡلِهِمۡ مِّنَ الۡجِنِّ وَالۡاِنۡسِۚ اِنَّهُمۡ كَانُوۡا خٰسِرِيۡنَ
And We appointed for them companions who made attractive for them what was before them and what was behind them. And the word has become true upon them among the nations who passed away before them, of Jinns and mankind. Indeed, they were the losers.
وَ قَالَ الَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡا رَبَّنَاۤ اَرِنَا الَّذَيۡنِ اَضَلّٰنَا مِنَ الۡجِنِّ وَ الۡاِنۡسِ نَجۡعَلۡهُمَا تَحۡتَ اَقۡدَامِنَا لِيَكُوۡنَا مِنَ الۡاَسۡفَلِيۡنَ
And those who disbelieved will say: “Our Lord, Show us those who led us astray of the Jinns and mankind. We will place them underneath our feet that they may be among the lowest.”
Evil Jinns will be sent to Hell-Fire
قَالَ ادۡخُلُوۡا فِىۡۤ اُمَمٍ قَدۡ خَلَتۡ مِنۡ قَبۡلِكُمۡ مِّنَ الۡجِنِّ وَ الۡاِنۡسِ فِى النَّارِؕ كُلَّمَا دَخَلَتۡ اُمَّةٌ لَّعَنَتۡ اُخۡتَهَاؕ حَتّٰۤى اِذَا ادَّارَكُوۡا فِيۡهَا جَمِيۡعًاۙ قَالَتۡ اُخۡرٰٮهُمۡ لِاُوۡلٰٮهُمۡ رَبَّنَا هٰٓؤُلاَۤءِ اَضَلُّوۡنَا فَاٰتِهِمۡ عَذَابًاضِعۡفًا مِّنَ النَّارِ قَالَ لِكُلٍّ ضِعۡفٌ وَّلٰـكِنۡ لَّا تَعۡلَمُوۡنَ
He (Allah) will say: “Enter you in the (company of) nations who had passed away before you, of the Jinns and mankind, into the Fire.” Every time a nation enters, it curses its sister (nation), until when they have all been made to follow one another therein, the last of them will say to the first of them: “Our Lord, these led us astray, so give them double punishment of the Fire.” He will say: “For each one there is double (torment), but you do not know.”
وَلَـقَدۡ ذَرَاۡنَا لِجَـهَنَّمَ كَثِيۡرًا مِّنَ الۡجِنِّ وَ الۡاِنۡسِ
لَهُمۡ قُلُوۡبٌ لَّا يَفۡقَهُوۡنَ بِهَا
وَ لَهُمۡ اَعۡيُنٌ لَّا يُبۡصِرُوۡنَ بِهَا
وَ لَهُمۡ اٰذَانٌ لَّا يَسۡمَعُوۡنَ بِهَاؕاُولٰۤٮِٕكَ كَالۡاَنۡعَامِ بَلۡ هُمۡ اَضَلُّؕ اُولٰۤٮِٕكَ هُمُ الۡغٰفِلُوۡنَ
And certainly, We have created for Hell many of the Jinns and mankind. They have hearts with which they do not understand, and they have eyes with which they do not see, and they have ears with which they do not hear. They are like the cattle. Rather, they are even more astray. Such are they who are the heedless.
Hell will be filled with evil Jinns
اِلَّا مَنۡ رَّحِمَ رَبُّكَؕ وَ لِذٰلِكَ خَلَقَهُمۡؕ وَ تَمَّتۡ كَلِمَةُ رَبِّكَ لَاَمۡلَـئَنَّ جَهَـنَّمَ مِنَ الۡجِنَّةِ وَالنَّاسِ اَجۡمَعِيۡنَ
Except whom your Lord has bestowed mercy. And for that did He create them. And the word of your Lord has been fulfilled. “Surely, I shall fill Hell with the Jinns and mankind all together.”
