Father and Son As mentioned in Al-Quran بِسۡمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِيۡم AalImran 03:38 Prophet Zechariah’s supplication
Make Dua that Allah grants righteous son
At that time Zechariah called upon his Lord, saying: O my Lord, grant me from Yourself a good offspring. Indeed, You are the All Hearer of supplication.
AlKahaf 18:82 Children of righteous father Allah protects children of righteous father And as for the wall, so it belonged to two youths, orphans in the city, and there was beneath it a treasure for them, and their father had been righteous. So your Lord intended that they should reach to their full strength and should take out their treasure, as a mercy from your Lord.
Luqman 31:13-19 Luqman’s advice to his son Don’t associate anyone with Allah - Establish Prayers - Enjoin kindness and forbid wrong - Practice patience - Don’t be arrogant - Walk with humility And when Luqman said to his son, while he was advising him: O my son, do not associate (partners) with Allah. Indeed, association (with Allah) is a tremendous wrong.
O my son, indeed, if it should be the weight of a grain of mustard seed, then should be in a rock, or in the heavens, or in the earth, Allah will bring it forth. Indeed, Allah is Subtle, Aware.
O my son, establish the prayer and enjoin kindness and forbid iniquity, and bear with patience upon whatever may befall you. Indeed, that is of firmness in (the conduct of) affairs.
And do not turn your cheek in scorn toward people, nor walk in the land exultantly. Indeed, Allah does not love each self-conceited boaster.
And be moderate in your walking, and lower your voice. Indeed, the harshest of all sounds is the voice of the donkey.
AlAnaam 06:74 Ibrahim invites his father to the tawheed of Allah
A righteous son can give advice to his father
And when Abraham said to his father Azar: Do you take idols for gods. Indeed, I see you and your people in manifest error.
Maryam 19:46-47 Ibrahim responds his father’s threat by sending peace upon him and asking forgiveness
Show kindness to father even if you do not agree
He said: Have you turned away from my gods, O Abraham. If you do not desist, I will surely stone you. And leave me a long while.
He (Abraham) said: Peace be upon you. I shall ask forgiveness of my Lord for you. Indeed, He is gracious to me.
Houd 11:41-43 Noah and Son If a son is disobedient to Allah, even a righteous father will not be able to help him. And he (Noah) said: Embark therein. In the name of Allah is its moving course and its resting anchorage. Surely, my Lord is Oft Forgiving, Most Merciful.
And it sailed with them amidst waves like mountains, and Noah called out to his son, and he was at a distance (from the rest): O my son, come ride with us, and do not be with the disbelievers.
He (son) said: I shall take refuge on a mountain, it will protect me from the water. He (Noah) said: There is no protector this day from the decree of Allah, except for whom He has mercy. And a wave came in between them, so he was among those who were drowned.
AlBaqarah 2:132 Ibrahim’s advice to his sons
Father’s concern for sons to remain on guidance until last moment
And Abraham enjoined the same (submission to Allah) upon his sons, and Jacob, (saying): O my sons, indeed, Allah has chosen for you this religion, so do not die except while you have submitted.
AlBaqarah 2:133 Yaqoob’s advice to his sons at the time of death Sons obeying to Allah is the foremost concern of a dying father Or were you present when death approached Jacob, when he said to his sons: What will you worship after me. They said: We shall worship your God, and the God of your fathers, Abraham, and Ishmael, and Isaac, One God, and to Him we have submitted.
AlBaqarah 2:127 Ibrahim and son make house of Allah together Father and son should join hands in doing good deeds And when Abraham was raising the foundations of the House, and Ishmael. (Saying): Our Lord, accept (this) from us. Indeed, You are the All Hearer, the All Knower.
AaSaffat 37:102 Ibrahim’s dream for his son Righteous father and righteous son submit to the commands of Allah Then when he (his son) reached (the age) to walk with him, he (Abraham) said: O my son, I indeed have seen in a dream that I am slaughtering you, so look, what do you think.” He said: O my father, do that which you are commanded. You shall find me, Allah willing, of the steadfast.
Yousef 12:97-98 Yaqoob and sons Father asks Allah for forgiveness for the children when they also repent They (sons) said: O our father, ask forgiveness for us of our sins, indeed we have been sinners.
He said: Soon I shall ask forgiveness for you of my Lord. Indeed, it is He who is the Oft-Forgiving, the Most Merciful.
Ibrahim 14:40-41 Always make Dua Make Dua for your children and your parents O my Lord, make me to establish prayer, and from my offspring (also). O our Lord, and accept my supplication.
O our Lord, forgive me and my parents and the believers on the day when the reckoning will be established.
